I take occasional trips into the hyper-macho world of so-called "conservative" blogs. For those of you unfamiliar with them (know thy enemy - go look around!), they are full of violent metaphors and militarism. The authoritarian leanings of "conservative" bloggers are apparent to everyone but the "conservative" bloggers themselves.
I should point out here that the "conservative" blogs I'm referring to are the less trafficked blogs that probably reside somewhere between Red State and White Supremacist garbage. Two-bit Little Green Footballs, if you will. The comment sections are generally the typewritten equivalent of grunts of approval along with various threats against "libtards".
The reason I'm writing this particular rant is the because there is a knee-jerk tendency in the "conservative" blogosphere to call for the nuking of Americas enemies. Once and for all, I'm calling out these idiots.
If we were to follow the advice of the Trailer Park Braintrust that is the "conservative" blogosphere, Iraq & Iran (along with Venezuela, France & Taxachusettes) would have been, to use a phrase el-Rushbo has before, reduced to giant parking lot. This is sort of cutesy way of saying "nuke them!" I have a nugget of wisdom that I would like to share with these morons:
The radioactive fallout from a nuclear bombing cannot be contained.
Can "conservative" morons grasp this fundamental reality?
I will spell it out for them and if everyone who reads this could point this fact out to their "conservative" nuke-them-all friends/relatives/spouses, etc., it would be greatly appreciated. "Conservatives" (including the Worst President Ever) seem incapable of thinking about the consequences of their proposed action.
Let's say, for the sake of argument, that the US drops a nuclear weapon in Anbar Province to "teach the terrorists a lesson".
What exactly do these "conservative" morons think happens with radioactive fallout? Reading their ridiculous blogs, you might be left with the incorrect impression that American troops in the area, our allies, and neutral countries in the vicinity are somehow magically protected from radioactive fallout.
Will Israel be happy with us dropping nuclear weapons in their neighborhood? Will Turkey? Will Jordan? What about Russia? Pakistan?
This is the shocking level of stupidity that you will encounter in the "conservative" blogosphere. I invite everyone to go forth, find the first reference to nuking our enemies that you can find and ask them how they plan to protect our troops from radioactive contamination if we follow their advice and drop nukes on our enemies.
In my experience, the "conservative" blogosphere reacts in one of three cowardly - and lame - ways:
- "They were joking". To me, this begs the question, "what exactly WOULD you do then if you can't nuke them? What's the solution in your mind?"
- They cut and run (I'd highly recommend framing it like this - they hate it) from debating the issue altogether and either engage in ad hominem attacks on you, replete with the requisite militaristic metaphors, or they scrub their site of your comments and pretend nothing ever happened.
- They ban you from commenting.
I have yet to encounter anyone in the dark, stinky corners of the "conservative" blogosphere who actually has an idea beyond simply nuking them. Sometimes they call for more troops but when pressed on where to get them, they revert to name calling and attacks. Then they usually ban you.
These "conservative" bloggers are out of ideas. On one hand, they criticize any idea that does not involve killing large numbers of people as being surrender, but then their own idea is pure, science-free ideological fantasy so they literally offer nothing constructive.
You'll be amazed at how quickly "conservative" bloggers fold when you confront them about their absurd "nuke 'em" statements. When I last did it, it took about 10 minutes to get myself banned.
Anyway, please pay them a visit and whenever you encounter the thoughtless, moronic "nuke 'em!" comment of a cheeto-munching armchair warrior, ask them how they'd protect US troops, Israel, et al from radioactive fallout.
Enjoy the fireworks and if you want to post about your experiences, I'll check back from time-to-time.
